Word-Doc-No-MS-Word

You get a Microsoft " Word" document but you don't have Word, so you can't open it. What can you do, short of forking over $$$ for a copy of Word?
Fortunately, you have several choices for dealing with this common problem:
If you just want to open and read or print a Word document, you can download a free Word Viewer application from Microsoft's Web site: support.microsoft.com/kb/891090.
You can also get a free copy of Powerpoint Viewer at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/HA100966951033.aspx
If you want to edit the document, you can sign up for Google* Docs, which has a free online word processor that's compatible with Microsoft Word .
Another option is open office, which is a “free” version of an office suite, which works reasonably well in lieu of Microsoft Office. To get Open Office, go to: http://download.openoffice.org/ . They do ask for a donation.
If you do have a need for Microsoft Office, and will not be using it for business or professional purposes, can be purchased for approximately $100, and sometimes less, at amazon.com.
