Windows-Which-Version
Which Windows Version is best? Is it XP, Vista, or Windows 7? Let's look at each....
Windows XP
Windows XP is very popular. Why?
- Because it works
- We know how to use it.
- For most of us, it's already paid for!

Vista
Almost nobody I know has upgraded their current XP PC to Windows Vista! They don’t have a compelling reason. Many did not buy a new PC back when Vista was there, because they don’t want Vista.
I have Vista on my laptop because when I bought the laptop, that is what it came with, and it works okay! It is true, it took some learning to understand the differences. It is also true that I can't run my older version of Quickbooks. However, it works pretty well, and I don't have any reason to get rid of it, yet.
The major rule for both: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!
Windows 7

Windows 7 is here now! The buzz from business, is that they will upgrade from XP to Windows 7. I believe that this may be true. Businesses need support from Microsoft, and it appears that Microsoft is heading in the right direction with Window 7.
-
They have resolved many of the complaints with Vista.
-
Security is much better than with XP.
-
XP is getting old, and businesses need many of the changes forthcoming.
What about home users and Small Businesses, that already have XP? We probably don’t need most of the changes coming in Windows 7. We rarely need support, and XP still has the 3 advantages, mentioned above!
We are moving at a strong pace to Windows 7, as we buy new computers (like what choice do you have?) But there is also some shift to Apple Macs! Cost will keep that shift from mushrooming.
>Below is a chart of the different versions of Windows 7
prices from popular vendor ...............................................$ 109.99..........$ 149.99.........$ 199.99
I am using Home Premium 64 bit, price being the determining factor.

Windows 8: The 'out of the box' experience (screenshots)
Finally! a look at Windows 8. This release of Windows, is their first serious stab at touchscreen implementation. Because this is crucial to tablets and cellphones, this is an important version of Windows. That there is going to be major changes, there will be some hesitation at first. Norm

Conclusion:
Many homes and small businesses should stay on XP for awhile. The first service Pack (of Windows 7) is out now. Windows 7 is very stable. Home Users and small businesses probably will have less fear of Windows 7, and I expect will “bite the bullet”, when they need a new computer. Upgrading their home computer and keeping XP is still an option.
Businesses will often stay on Windows XP, because moving to Windows 7 would force them to change some of their busiess software, at considerable cost. But even despite that, they are slowly shifting, because it is becoming harder to stay on XP. New computers generally only come with Windows 7, and they have to pay extra to stay on XP!
I've been using a Dual core CPU, with 4GB memory and Windows 7, for a year, and I love it! My wife now has Windows 7 too! Her computer died, and we had to upgrade it. She has a lot of new software, becasuse her graphic software did not work withWindows 7. The new graphic software is working fine now, and she has learned the new capabilities, and is enjoying the upgrade. see Desktop Publishing, if you'd like to learn about her adventure.
