These tips are a collection of tidbits that I found helpful, when I started using Windows 7. I particularly like the Windows 7 themes below. I have also found I can add or delete pictures to each theme, to further enhance these themes!

I've just been looking at some neat " Windows-7-How To " Videos, that not only show me what can be done with Windows 7, but how to do it, as well!

I have setup a test PC with Windows 7, and with these videos, I'm testing each.

Windows 7 Defragmentation

When you start the Disk Defragmentation utility:

This what you get!

Like it or not, with Windows7, this is all you get for defragmentation

You do not get a progress bar, or an indication of elapsed time, or remaining time.

There's no information on how fragmented the disc is, what files are fragmented, or options to exclude some files from the defragmentation process.

The good news is that it will run automatically daily, or you can run now.

The bad news is you do not get any view of how the state of file fragmentation status, before and after, like you did with XP!

This may be OK, try it, you may feel satisfied. Some people say it good enough. It certainly is better than nothing.

But personally, I would like more control. If you want better defragmentation, try Diskeeper. You can try it for 30 days. You’ll see that it gives you a feeling of control.

Alternative TV Method - USB TV Tuner (available from TigerDirect)

 Another way to see TV on your PC is to use a USB TV Tuner! With this device, you can plug your Input video cable (from antennae or Cable input, etc) into the USB connector, which is plugged into your PC or Laptop, and watch TV on your computer!
