System-Restore
System-Restore is that "magic bullet", many of us have used to bail out a sick system. It puts Windows XP back to an earlier time, and has recovered many a PC. However, the "bad guys" have found it to be a good place to hide their viruses or Trojan Horse.
So now, in removing an infection, you need to turn off System-Restore, then disinfect, then turn System Restore back on! Here's how!
The reason you need to do this, is a lot of the "Bad Guys" hide their code iin System Restore, so that when you restore your system, you also restore their Malware!
Steps to turn off System Restore
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.

Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.

Click OK.
When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:

You have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.
Do you want to turn off System Restore?
After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.
Steps to turn on System Restore
This is a reverse of the above procedure!
Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
Click to clear the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
Click OK.
After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.
