Shortcuts
Frequently I'm asked to put a shortcut on the desktop by one of my customers. They really do like shortcuts, as it makes using a computer easier. So today, I will be discussing how to add your own shortcut, and how to delete shortcuts you don't need.
Shortcuts should be on your desktop, to help you use those programs you frequently, and possibly important programs you have a hard time finding. You can also create short cuts to a folder or a file.
To Create a Shortcut:
Let's assume you want to create a shortcut for Spider Solitaire:
click on Start (bottom left corner of Windows desktop)

click on All Programs
Move your cursor to games (A "drop-down" menu will appear, with all your games) then move your cursor to Solitaire

Now, click and hold the "right click" button on your mouse, and move your mouse over to the desktop, and release the mouse button.
A "drop-down" menu will appear, select Copy Here .

To Delete a Shortcut
Right Click on the unwanted shortcut on your desktop
A drop-down menu will appear - Select Delete

You will then get a Confirm Delete message to the recycle bin. Click Yes

When you add or delete shortcuts on your desktop, you are not removing programs. They will still be on you All Programs list, and on your computer. The shortcuts on your desktop should only be the ones you want. They are there for your convenience.
