Projectors

Projectors

Projectors are used by "road Warriors" to make presentations to groups in conference rooms, and even in auditoriums. Most projectors used with computers are LCD projectors, which typically connect to the DB15 connector on a computer

Projectors

There are many types of projectors, such as Movie Projectors, Slide Projectors, etc. But, on this page, I'm discussing the type you attach to computers, (which now has to consider tablets and cell phones!). I've included the Projectors - from Wikipedia link, for your info.

LCD Projectors

LCD projectors come in different sizes, shapes and cost! I paid $800 for my first one, then sold it on e-bay for $250, and it was lightly used. I used mine for presentations, including classroom using when teaching Introduction to Computers. I later found that most places I travelled to, had projectors there, so I used mine less and less as time went by.

You don't always need a screen, as a white wall will work, but a screen makes it much brighter. The really small projects won't work well in a large room. I generally wanted 1500 lumens, for a classroom. Auditoriums need much more. I normally rented one for large rooms. I paid $100-200/day for a strong projector.

LCD Projectors are sometimes used by college students for videos (movies), in place of a TV in their room!

One important point to remember, when using one on the road, carry a spare bulb! My spare bulb cost $250! But, I've had the bulb burn out in the middle of a very important presentation. They were impreessed at my preparation. They were also impressed that I knew how to replace the bulb quickly. Note: I had practiced with a cool bulb... I had to replace a very hot bulb!
