Media-Player

Media Player. If you have a Window PC either XP, Vista or Windows 7, you should already have this installed. Media Player is provided as part of Windows. However, you may need to update to a newer version to get the latest features.

Play CDs on Windows Media Player

You can use Windows Media Player 11, or 12 to listen to CDs on your computer.

Media Player 12 from Microsoft

If you want to upgrade, click above.

You can play audio CDs or data CDs that contain music files (also known as media CDs).

To play a CD CD in Drive

Insert the CD you want to play into the drive.

2. Normally, when a CD is detected, you would get the image below:

CD - Auto Start

Play Audio CD

4. You will get an image similar to the one below (This is an Alan Jackson CD being played. )

The music will start playing, with a list of songs on the right, and even a picture in lower right!

This will happen if your sound is working right (the music), and the title will show, if connected to the internet properly.

What if your CD did not auto start?

In recent years, we have been repeatedly warned to turn off Autostart because of exposure to Malware (Viruses and the like). If you did, or somebody else did this on your PC, then when you put a CD in the drive, nothing happens!

1. Click on My Computer

2. You'll get an image similar to below (That shows an audio CD in your CD/DVD drive.

3. Simply double-click on the Audio CD symbol, and Media Player should start. (This is assuming that Windows Media Player is the normal default for Audio Files. Sometimes other programs on your computer have replaced Media Player as the default)

Media Player - Library

My display shows me the song being played (highlighted), and the list of the other songs from the CD to be played.

On the left of the screen, you also see the list of other stuff (music, etc) in your library. If you are new to this, you ain't got nothin'!

So, let's fix that! You want to record all your CD's to your computer.

So click on: Burn (Media Player toolbar on top)

this step will cause files to be copied to your library.
