Do-Not-Call-Registry
Signing up for the Do-Not-Call-Registry is prboably a good idea, certainly for you house phone (if you still have one) and it is also okay for your cell phone. But if you get this e-mail, don't let it concern you. It is mostly false, see Urban Legends link below.
I have recently received the following e-mail:
| Mostly False E-Mail |
Subject: Cell Phone Numbers
Pass it along...
REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public next month.
REMINDER.... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls.
YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.. It takes about 20 seconds. |
See Urban Legends for Actual Facts
What should you do? You could actually register, if you would like to block telemarketers, or you could do nothing, without a lot of fear. If you do want to register, you can do it on line: click on On Line Registration for Do Not Call
