When you have suspected hard drive failure, such as Windows errors, file errors, or other data corruption, you need to run hard drive diagnostics.
Disk-Check is on diagnostic you can run. It can also repair errors. If this solves your problem, with no repeated errors, then your hard drive may be okay. But, if errors return, then you may have more serious hard drive failures.
To run Disk Check:
Click on Start
click on My Computer

Then right-click Local Disk C:

Then Click the Tools tab (on top)

Then select Error Checking
Then check Automatically Fix File System Errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors

This will occur after a restart.
Keep in mind, that if you continue to get bad sectors, your hard drive is going bad, and is due very soon for a replacement!
