Dead-PC

You go to your desk and turn on your PC, but nothing happens! Your PC just died! What do you do? You’ve got to get your e-mail, and you needed to check the internet for a few things.

Dead PC

A Dead-PC can be classified into 3 categories:

PC - No Power

    • PC Has no power  the power light doesn’t come on, you looked at the back of the computer and the fan(s) aren’t running. You do not hear any clicking, or beeping.

    ........ go to ... PC-No Power

PC has Power – No video 

    • You see some activity, such as a fan running, or hear some clicking, beeping, etc

    • You see disk activity light

    • Power light is on

    • Fan running

    • You hear some clicking, beeping, etc in the system unit

    No Video

PC has power – and "something" is on the Monitor 

  • You may only see a blinking cursor, or just some text about CD or keyboard being detected, etc

  • There are also Blue Screen Stop Errors (Blue screen of Death!) or other text messages : see examples below)
