Throughout my Site, I refer to "professional help" or Computer Assistance.
This is also called Technical support or IT support.

that are very knowledgeable. Be careful! Many sound like they know what they are doing, but sometimes will do more harm than good! If you are a real novice, you probably don't have enough skill to determine how good they are. There have been situations where they made the problem much worse. However, as a professional, I have been able to reverse most of the damage, in a very reasonable time. So exercise caution, but don't be afraid!
On-Line Support: (Remote Support)
Sites that charge for Computer-Support. This can be a cost effective way. It does not work well for computers that cannot connect to the internet. They are dependent on you being "their hands and eyes!" When I was with Gateway, I preferred to visit the computer when I could. Our Help Desk could handle a good Percentage of the calls, such as "lost passwords", area-wide problems (that affected more than one computer), common errors, etc.
Note: Remote Support is the easist way to launch a fraudulent service. Remeber that the "Bad Guys" would love to have administrative access to your computer! And access to your credit card, too! So, I urge you to make sure you have good reason to trust the site that you choose!
As I discover on-line sites that provide Computer-Support, and have a good track record, I will add them to my list.
Web Sites that give in depth technical information**
These are sites that give information that is useful, if you want to "fix it yourself". A true "novice", however, will avoid these like the plague! Too Much Information!
Local Repair People:
These are technicians such as my company that will do Computer-Support such as: on-site service, or carry-in service. Some will even do "Remote Support", when that applies. Below is a list of companies that I can recommend.
